Sitna Quiroz
Assistant Professor, Department of Theology
Dr. Sitna Quiroz is an Assistant Professor in the Study of Religion and a social anthropologist whose research examines the intersections of Indigenous spiritual traditions, Christianity, and postcolonial entanglements between Europe, the Americas, and Africa. She has conducted fieldwork with Nahua communities in the Huasteca Region of Mexico, where she studied a contemporary Catholic-Nahua prophetic movement. Her current work investigates the re-conceptualisation and incorporation of Indigenous spiritual traditions into therapeutic spaces and the wellness industry in Western contexts, shedding light on the complex religious dynamics shaped by colonial histories and ongoing appropriation, adaptation, and resistance processes. She is committed to developing decolonising methodologies that centre Indigenous voices, epistemologies, and lived experiences in her research.
