Project: The Language Sovereignty Database
Status: Ongoing (2022–Present)
Lead Researcher: Dr. Elena M.
Impact Area: Linguistic Revitalization / Digital Humanities
Project Description
This project aims to create a secure, community-controlled digital archive for endangered mother tongues. Unlike colonial archives, this database uses a Grounded Methodology, ensuring that the community retains 100% ownership over who accesses the recordings and how they are used in educational materials.
Decolonial Framework
We utilize a “Relational Ethics” model, where research outcomes are co-designed by community stakeholders rather than dictated by institutional academic requirements.
Key Outputs
Methodology Paper: “Refusing the Extraction of Words” (PDF).
Toolkit: Community Guide to Digital Recording.
