    Gillian Bentley

    Gillian is Professor in the Department of Anthropology, a bioanthropologist and past archaeologist who has conducted research with indigenous groups in the Ituri Forest of now Democratic Republic of Congo. She has a particular interest in how the early developmental environment affects health in later life. She developed the Virtual Field Course in the Department of Anthropology with Paolo Fortis that focuses on the experience of colonisation by indigenous groups of the northeast of continental North America now called New England. Through the course, she helped to develop ongoing collaborations with members of the Wampanoag Tribal Groups in Massachusetts and the Pequot in Connecticut. She is the webmaster of the SIGICS site and helps to organise SIGICS activities across the year.
